Risk Factors for Severe Violence in Intimate Partner Stalking Situations: An Analysis of Police Records

This study was based on Western Australia Police Force data. It found that different levels of violence were associated with various factors. The most severe levels of violence were seen in cases that involved child contact issues, a history of domestic violence, nonfatal strangulation, jealousy, previous injury, and the survivor’s belief that harm would occur.

Stalkers: Specialists Versus Generalists

This study, also based on Western Australia Police Force data, set out to examine whether stalkers are involved in other criminal acts. It was found that only a minority of the offenders specialised in stalking. Most also offended in other ways against the person they had stalked and most had also offended against other people. More than half of the sample had broken restraining orders.
